Jonathan Talks High Society

WHAT’S GOOD TWIN CITIES?????!!!!!!
Ok, so I got to see this week’s episode of High Society before it airs on Wednesday and I’m going to give you the scoop on what to expect.

First thing, Tinsley’s mom takes it to a whole new level in regards to wanting to get Tinsley and her ex-husband back together and it is pretty intense and simply wrong. She actually goes out of her way to prove that Tinsley’s current boyfriend (the German prince) has a horrible family history.

To add to this, Tinsley goes on a hot blind date with a guy that her friend recommends her to and it gets pretty steamy, but at the same time, she gets into a BIG argument with her boyfriend (the German prince) in Paris at fashion week.

Now I don’t want to tell you too much but I must say that Jules is the person that I most dislike on the show; just watch and see how she treats her maid in this episode and you will know exactly what I mean. Paul also puts her dirty laundry out during this episode and tells some crazy gossip about her including, among other things, the fact that she faked cancer so that she could get her parents to give her money.

Paul is also not too good when it comes to using parents’ money…actually… I’m not even going to go into that because you need to see what he is up to for yourselves. In general, he is a mess…

Well, that’s all you’re getting out of me on this upcoming episode. My lips are now sealed. To find out more, you’re going to have to watch the show for yourself this week.

IF YOU WANT TO WATCH SO DRAMA, THIS IS WHERE YOU’RE GOING TO FIND IT!

WHATS GOOD TWIN CITIES?????!!!!!!

This last weekend I went to Austin, Texas for a conference with school and guess who I came across…? LATOYA LUCKETT - the fourth member of Destiny’s Child!!!!!!!!

She gave a speech that was awesome and told some pretty cool stories about being in the group as a child.

Did you know that Beyonce’s dad used to make the group jog in heels singing alongside of his car when they were teenagers?

Hope For Haiti

WHATS GOOD TWIN CITIES???!!!

As many of you know, the country of Haiti was hit by a level 7 earthquake this last week and they are in desperate need of help. Even before the Earthquake they were ranked among the poorest countries in the western hemisphere and thus they are facing even more trouble now. As Americans we live in one of the most privileged societies in the world in terms of money and resources and thus it is our duty to help others that are not as privileged as us including our neighbors in Haiti.

The hip-hop community has been at the forefront of the fund raising campaigns for Haitian relief programs due to the fact that many of these rappers are Haitian themselves. The most prominent among these is rapper/singer/activist Wycleff Jean who even before the earthquake was doing large scale humanitarian work in Haiti.

Tonight at 7pm, the CW Twin Cities will be airing a “Hope for Haiti” telethon hosted by Wycleff and George Clooney featuring Jay-Z, Rihanna, Bono, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Mary J. Blige and more.

Please tune in at 7pm and donate all that you can to these people in need.

Hangin' Out At The Shrine Circus

WHATS GOOD TWIN CITIES???!!!

This last Saturday I got to help host the Shrine Circus at the Target Center downtown and it was soooo much fun. Casey sang the national anthem and then I came out and introduced Jayshawn, an 8 year old who had won a contest to be the Jr. Ringmaster for the night. It was his birthday so I got the whole audience to sing happy birthday to him and then he opened the show. I haven’t been to the circus since I was about 8 years old and I never imagined that I would get to be in the middle of the three rings hosting part of it! I think that the animals were the best part, there was even an elephant that did a handstand!! I can’ wait until next year when I will get to be able to go again.

A List of Halloween Costume No-no's
Posted by: Jonathan
Posted on: October 16th, 2009

WHATS GOOD TWIN CITIES???!!!

Ok so Halloween (one of my favorite holidays) is coming around the bend and I still don’t know what I am going to be… This is bad because I am throwing a party on the 30th downtown at Barfly’s upstairs lounge (its called Nightmare on Nupestreet) and then I plan to go to Madison on the 31st with my friends. This means that I need to find TWO good costumes to wear and I don’t even have one in mind yet. I know, however, the costumes that I don’t want to wear because everybody else will be wearing them. So, I thought it would be nice for me to put a list together of JONATHAN RABB’S LIST OF HALLOWEEN COSTUMES OF 2009 THAT YOU SHOULD NOT WEAR BECAUSE EVERYBODY ELSE IN THE PARTY WILL ALSO BE WEARING THEM.

Now, the costumes on this list are in most cases not horrible ideas and they might be on the list because they are, in fact, so good that everybody wants to do them. I am not saying that you should not wear them I am just saying that if you do wear them you have to go overboard and pull them off better than anyone else who is wearing them in the club/party that you attend because if you are not the best of whoever you choose to be you will look like a total loser because someone will have one upped you and get all of the praise and attention while you sit around and try to convince people around you that yours is better. Let me tell you, Halloween will end up embarrassing for you if you don’t follow my advice.

1. Michael Jackson Costume

You will and I repeat you will Lose if you try to go to Halloween parties as the King of Pop. First thing he has only been dead for like 3 months and thus Karma will get you with full force and you will feel the wrath of this man from his grave in the form of at least 10 other people at your party wearing that same costume and at least 5 of them moonwalking better than you and thus ruining your night. The only way you can pull this costume off this year is if you were already a Michael Jackson impersonator or naturally already look like him.

2. Lady Gaga

Ladies take my advice and don’t try to pull this one off you will be beaten. Lady Gaga is too easy of a costume because all it requires is a long wig with bangs, some glasses, any random dress from Savers and some nice heels or boots. This means that every girl who waited until the day before Halloween to pick her costume will attempt to pull this off out of pure laziness. Plus I am almost positive that everyone in Minneapolis has a friend that looks just like Lady Gaga anyway.

3. The Guy from Twilight

Yup if you picked this or even thought of it you are loosin because this guy is just like the Lady Gaga costume, its way too easy. Lets look at it this way, all you need is a grey pea coat( I’m wearing one right now), a sweater and some baby powder to make your face look pale. EVERYBODY ALREADY HAS THOSE THINGS ON THEM!!! If you want to spice it up the only thing you can do is buy some of those cheap vampire teeth from the Dollar Tree down the street and you don’t even have to do that. The point is, this is a costume for lazy people and people are lazy, so you will have at least 10 of these guys standing next to 12 Lady Gagas and 20 Michael Jacksons at the party you go to. Don’t follow the crowd.

4. Barack Obama

It simple as this, this costume is waaaaaaayyy too easy.

5. The Joker

The Office proved it to you last year…this is gonna be overused to the max. On top of this, they must have made too many of these last year and did not sell enough of them because they seem to be over saturating the clearance rack at costume stores making them even more attractive to last minute Halloween shoppers. It is what this years Michael Jackson costume will be next year, lame and overused. “This is sooo last year” ahahaha…for real…don’t do it.

In conclusion, your best bet is to find a group of friends and go together as a group of costumes that work together. If you do this, even if someone is wearing the same costume as you, you will have people to back you up.

Please follow my advice,
Jonathan Rabb

Fashion & Film in the Twin Cities

WHATS GOOD TWIN CITIES??
I just got back from the B96 Rip the Runway fashion show with Casey and it was pretty cool. We got to meet a lot of Minnesota’s flyest people, see this fall’s fashion styles from local designers and we even got to see the NEW BOYZ perform at the end of it all. I met up with Tone E. Fly, Miss Shannan, B Right, Zannie K. and the rest of the B96 crew and I guess that Prince was even in the building!!! Prince!!! Now I think that he must have been snuck in and hidden so that he was not bothered by fans during the show but Casey and I kept looking backwards during the show to see if we could spot him sitting above the audience on one of the upper floors of the building. Sadly enough, we didn’t see him but at least we could say that we were in the same room :)

After the Fashion show we went downtown to the premier party of the new film Nobody which was co-produced by Josh Hartnett and co-written by Rob Perez (the guy who wrote 40 Days and 40 Nights). The party was really exclusive but we managed to get inside and I even got to meet Josh and shake his hand which was pretty cool. The crowd was really fun, there were people in giant vegetable costumes and I was introduce to a couple members of the cast but by the end of the night both Casey and I were really exhausted…it was a Thursday… and we both had class the next day but it was totally worth it.

JONATHAN'S LIST OF MUSIC VIDEOS THAT ARE SO BAD - THEY'RE AMAZING!
Posted by: Jonathan
Posted on: August 21st, 2009

What’s Good Twin Cities??!!!
I am a music video connoisseur and I love watching both good and bad videos no matter what genre they are. Now for your enjoyment, I have put together a list of some of the videos that I think are so bad that they are amazing. The songs may be genius but the videos are so bad that they will make your day.

HOOKED ON A FEELING
David Hasselhoff’s Hooked On a Feeling has to be on this list because of the horrible green screen work and the fact that he is flying around the world using costumes and props that the director probably found in the studios lost and found prop closet. This music video is so bad that it is good.

GHOSTBUSTERS
In 1984 Ray Parker Jr came out with an amazing Ghostbusters themesong, the music video however was so bad that it itself became amazing. Pay attention to the “amazing” special effects, dance moves and the part at about 2:15 in the video where he rises from the stair case says “I ain’t afraid of no ghost” and follows the terrified lady screaming “YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH” with his arms and hands positiond as if he was trying to impersonate a velociraptor.

SEPARATE WAYS
The band Journey came out with this “amazing” music video in the 80s. It looks like it was filmed in the back of the K Mart on Lake Street on a cloudy day with a flip phone. I am most positive that there was no hair, makeup, lighting, or even electricity used in this video. The instruments are not used until 3 minutes into the video and they are not even plugged in…the drummer is using what appears to be oil drums and the guitarist’s and pianist’s movements are not even synchronized with the music that they are playing. Oh yeah and that good old piano on the wall is always a plus… Check it out!!!

WHATZUPWITU
This Eddie Murphy and Michael Jackson collabo is catchy but ridiculous to the furthest extent. WHY IS HE WEARING A WIFE BEATER??!!! Why is Eddie trying to act like Stevie Wonder? What is going on here?! What are those children in the video doing in the clouds and where are they going? This whole thing is a little embarrassing.

PARTY ALL THE TIME
What IS Rick James doing looking like a poodle?!!

AM I SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER?
Posted by: Jonathan
Posted on: August 6th, 2009

I pose this question because The CW Twin Cities is going to be airing Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader this fall with our other hit game show Deal or No Deal.

So let’s take a look at this…

I am an honors student with a 3.9 GPA at the University of Minnesota and I have been on the deans list the entire time that I have been in college but for some reason it seems that I, Jonathan Rabb, am NOT smarter than a fifth grader. I played the online Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader Trivia Game and lost horribly.

WHY HAVE I SPENT SO MUCH TIME DOING HOMEWORK AND SO MUCH MONEY ON AN EDUCATION IF I CAN NOT EVEN BEAT A 5TH GRADER AT A SIMPLE TRIVIA GAME?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this show prove that 5th graders are smarter than everyone else in America? If so, why are we letting them go to school and play? We should have them out there solving the world’s problems. We need to watch out America, these 5th graders are so smart that they are sitting back and playing games drinking apple juice and enjoying Saturday morning cartoons, playgrounds and action figures lazily while the rest of the world is falling apart around them. Yes 5th graders, I see your trickery and now the rest of America does too!!!!! You may be smarter than me but I know your game and I can see through it!

So let’s get smart! Tune in to The CW Twin Cities this fall and watch Are you Smarter than a 5th Grader five times a week!!

Whats good Twin Cities????!!!!!!!
SOOOO I was just sitting with my friends joking about toys that we used to play with as children and I decided to make a list of them and put them on the Blog so that you can reminisce too. Do you remember these? Some of them are pretty stupid...

Pogs (What were parents thinking buying these for their kids? They were just pieces of round cardboard!)

Creepy crawlers (Two words...”The” “Best”)

Vac Man (Saw it in a box of old toys in my attic a couple weeks ago)

Skip it (I still have this song memorized...kinda embarrassing)

I never played with this but it is so ridiculous that I had to add it in. Everything about this is stupid, Ken needs to get his life together.

JOHNNY RABB'S AFRO - TV HISTORY?

Its hard to believe…but at one point in time I was not the only person on TV with a giant afro… in a time called the 1970’s there were millions of us dancing in unison led by a man named Don Cornelius hahahaha

I really don’t know what to say about this clip but I thought that if your day was going bad it might make you happy.

MICHAEL JACKSON

I can not believe it...how can Michael Jackson die? When I found out I was watching Black to the 70's on VH1 with my friends and just had happened to turn to CNN during a commercial break where I saw the ariel view of the hospital that he was in. The crazy thing about all of this was that Black to the 70's was talking about Jackson during the seventies and I had made a comment to my friends about how he was the best preformer EVER and that I would love to get tickets to one of his concerts before he died. Thirty minutes later I find out that I will never have the chance to do that at all because the man was Dead.

I remember watching thriller as a child and covering my eyes as it got to scary. I remember watching the movie Moon Walker with my little sister at my uncles house. I remember the WIZ, who could forget the WIZ!? Man I think I am about to watch the WIZ right now!!! Until next time here are two of my favorite MJ videos...

WHATS GOOD TWIN CITIES??????!!!!!!
Today I was going through some Everybody Hates Chris clips on Youtube and found this...

It is really funny because last year I was Prince for Halloween…

I guess you can say that Chris beat me though because his outfit was better…now I hate him too!
Me and my friend went to a party together as the Dave Chappelle versions of Prince and Rick James. As you can see I even brought my basketball.
But whatever… Chris beat me because of that thing he had wrapped around his head…I should have thought of it first.
Hey, at least I got danced with though.

JONATHAN CHECKS IN
Posted by: Jonathan
Posted on: February 26th, 2009

Hey Hey Hey!!!!!!!!!!! Whats good Twin Cities?!

I am done with winter break and getting back into the swing of things with school and work. The cold is starting to get on my nerves a little bit though. I can’t stand it, but whatever I guess… I live here so I can’t complain. Sooner or later the sun will eventually come, the snow will go away, and I won’t freeze while walking class to class or waiting for the bus. On Saturday it was 30 degrees and I found it funny that there were people walking around with sweaters and no coats as if it were May. That’s Minnesotans for ya… we think that just because the sun is out, we are allowed to walk around and shovel snow in shorts as if we were plants photosynthesizing sunrays for energy.

Well enough of my complaining…..I did actually have fun in the cold in the Winter Carnival parade in St. Paul. The CW Twin Cities had a van and we were passing out posters from some of your favorite shows to the people watching the parade. At one point we had to run a block behind the van chasing the parade because we were spending too much time with the crowd talking to people. I gave like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 million trillion gazillion high fives!

Well I got to get back to this video shoot that the Crew is doing.
Have a nice day Twin Cities and stay tuned for my next blog entry!
Oh yeah and if you see me around walk up and say hi and I will make you famous by putting you in my blog ☺

JONATHAN HANGS WITH WILL SMITH
Posted by: Jonathan
Posted on: February 2nd, 2009

Interview with Will Smith

I promise that I am not lying to you at all… I interviewed Will Smith aka “The Fresh Prince of Bel-air”! The man who made the first CD that I ever owned! A CD that I listened to until it was so scratched up that it only played the last three tracks: “Just the two of us” ,”Big Willie Style”, and “Men in Black”.

Will was in town at Southdale Mall last Friday for an exclusive premier of his new movie Seven Pounds that opens December 19th in theaters everywhere. This was a fundraiser event and the first 250 people who donated non-perishable food items received free entry to see the screening of the movie. Will personally donated 300 turkey dinners to Second Harvest Heartland along with Bernard Berrian from the Minnesota Vikings who donated $10,000 toward the cause.

I was able to meet up with him on the red carpet and talk with him about his personal views about the purpose of giving during the holiday season and he was very passionate about encouraging others to donate. He was a really cool guy and had fun interacting with the crowed even though it was freezing outside. He spent a lot of time with them and it seemed as if he shook every single hand in the crowd and signed every object that was thrust at him. Will Loves His Fans.

Be like Will Smith this holiday and donate to people in your community that need help☺
Stay tuned for more exclusive interviews with your favorite stars and Cw Crew members.

WHAT'S GOOD TWIN CITIES?!?!?
Posted by: Jonathan
Posted on: February 1st, 2009

I’m Jonathan from The CW Twin Cities Crew and I would like to welcome you to my blog.

Let me tell you a little bit about myself:
This summer I was looking for a job on craigslist.com and I happened upon an ad for a casting call held at the Uptown Art Fair for a spot as a member of the CW Twin Cities Crew. For some reason this ad caught my attention because the next day I rushed to uptown (during a work break) and went through the tryout process. Three weeks later I received a call from the CW Twin Cities saying that they wanted me to come back for a call back audition and long story short…I got the job!

I’m from SOUTH MINNEAPOLIS and am currently a sophomore studying German and Global Studies at the University of Minnesota. I study really hard and actually enjoy going to classes but my favorite thing to do in Minneapolis is partying at nightclubs with my friends. I like all kinds of music (it’s true…but I hate when other people say it because it is like saying your favorite color is clear…it does not answer the question) but my favorite genre is hip-hop/rap. I also like to travel and be on TV ☺

The purpose of this blog is for me to be able to hook you all out there in internet land up with exclusive interviews with your favorite stars, new promotions from the CW Twin Cities, info about special upcoming CW Twin Cities events and anything else that I find interesting enough to upload.

If you have any questions for me or suggestions for the blog just leave me a message and I will make sure to get back at you. Oh yeah… comment as much as possible because it is the cool thing to do!
