OK GO
Posted by: Casey
Posted on: July 28th 2010

Hey guys! Casey here! This week I wanted to direct your attention to a band featured on 90210 and One Tree Hill. The band is called OK GO. Although there music is what put them on the map, their music videos are what have made them famous. I was surfing Youtube last week and I stumbled upon the video for their song "End Love." It's pretty nuts! Looks like they spent a long time filming, find out why... Click here to check it out!

It's worth noting that the videos of "This too Shall Pass" and "Here it Goes Again," coming in with over 51 million views on Youtube, are stand out material as well!

Summer Blog

Hey Twin Cities!

Just checking in to make sure everyone has their summer event schedule mapped out! Summer is my favorite season partly because in Minnesota it is the time for festivals, outdoor parties, beach bashes, and of course fried food. Its a good idea to jot down a few events that you don't wanna miss on your calendar now, before you plan trips out of town or up north.

Right now on my radar:

Basilica Block Party is July 9th and 10th where you will find me rocking out to bands like Spoon, Guster, and friends of mine Kristoff Krane and ReadyGoes.

Another festival you cannot miss is The Uptown Art fair the first weekend of August! The CW Twin Cities always has a booth where we give away free prizes so make sure to swing by!

You can also catch me and the rest of the Crew out on Lake Minnetonka with the DJs from KDWB hosting Lake Patrol from 1-3 and at various St. Paul Saints games!

Can't wait to see you at all of these fun events!

Calling all Bloodsucker Lovers!
Posted by: Casey
Posted on: May 13th, 2010

Calling all bloodsucker lovers, just because the Twilight saga is on hiatus, doesn’t mean you can’t get your Vampire fix. In fact, this week the Vamps are hitting the town! (The town of Mystic Falls that is).

Mystic falls is the setting for the most talked about new show on The CW Twin Cities, The Vampire Diaries. I have been a die hard fan from the beginning, no pun intended, but as the season finale approaches, I cannot stop chatting up the show to friends. I mean, I have not anticipated a finale like this since season one of Gossip Girl, and that my friends, is saying A LOT.

So if you are already a Vamp Diaries fan, don’t even think about forgetting TONIGHT'S season finale! (7pm, The CW Twin Cities).

If you haven’t seen an episode yet, I suggest going to CWTV.com and doing your homework. Its summertime; if you’ve got some free tine on your hands, and perhaps if you are feeling hungry, go on, take a bite! The Vampire Diaries tastes good!

Hey Twin Cities!

Casey here! A new show airs next week on The CW Twin Cities and I just have to watch the first two episodes here at the studio! The show is called High Society and is about young socialites who live in New York City. I didn’t really know what to expect when I started watching the show. I was pleasantly impressed with High Society! This show is totally Gossip Girl meets The Real Housewives of Orange County. If you like high fashion and oodles of real life drama, this is the show for you!!! It is also fun to see cameos in the first few episodes by Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna, and Katy Perry. Check it out this Wednesday at 8:30pm on the CW Twin Cities. Check out the preview!

Life Unexpected

Hey Twin Cities!

Casey here. I’m blogging today to remind everyone to tune into Life Unexpected Mondays at 8pm! I am SO EXCITED for this show! It really brings in a different sort of perspective to the CWTC’s lineup. I think that this show will be something that will appeal to all ages because the lessons emphasized hit a little bit closer to home. The show is about finding yourself and valuing family and I think that will hopefully hook a lot of fans. I was able to see sneak peaks of the show on Facebook and if you missed the premiere on Monday, you can see the show again Wednesday at 7p! The show surprised me by how cleverly written it was in the first ten minutes! I can’t wait for MONDAYS!

Casey Recasts Twilight!
Posted by: Casey
Posted on: November 25th, 2009

I am a huge Twilight fan and I wasn’t very impressed with the first movie but I have a really good feeling that they stepped it up a few notches with this recent film. The hype behind this movie event has paralleled that of other sagas like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, but the demographic of fans has a very different makeup. Twilight has teen girls going gaga for Vampires. Will the trend last? At least 'till the last Twilight movie comes out! One of the main reasons why I didn’t like the first movie is because I don’t think it was cast very well. Die hard fans will soon come after me in my sleep but I really think that had the film a bigger budget from the start it would have generated a better cast. Here is how I would have cast
Twilight:

Bella: Emma Stone (Superbad, Zombieland)

Edward: Adam Gregory (90210)

Jacob: Tamar Novas (Broken Embraces)

Emmett and Jasper: (borrowed some CW vamps for this one! The Salvatores)
Paul Wesley as Emmet and Ian Somerhalder as Jasper

Alice: Kysten Ritter (Confessions of a Shopaholic)

Rosalie: Maggie Grace (Lost)

Esme: Kate Beckinsale

Carlisle: Henry Cavill (Tudors)

James: Cam Giandet (Yes the original James, but lets keep him a brunette mmk?)

Victoria: Bryce Dallas Howard (Lady in Water)

So the only two I kept were the villains….. :D

Halloween
Posted by: Casey
Posted on: November 1st, 2009

So this year for Halloween I wanted to have a really amazing costume. So I thought for a really long time about who I wanted to go as and I almost settled on a CW vampire, but then I decided there’s no one I would rather be than Lady Gaga. Shortly after deciding this however, Jonathan Rabb wrote a blog about how the only people you shouldn’t dress up as this Halloween are MJ and Lady Gaga. I was crushed. I felt like maybe I wasn’t being original enough… that maybe I was choosing the easy route out. But in the end I decided that I was going to prove J Rabb wrong. I was going to be the BEST GAGA there ever was. And obviously, my Lady Gaga trumped all the other Lady Gaga’s out there on Saturday night. I actually had paparazzi taking photos of me on the street. So take that Jonathan Rabb!

TWITTER MANIA

So one of the news trends The CW Twin Cities Crew has caught onto is the wonderful world of Twitter. When I first started working here I remember thinking, “That Mike Rylander is OBSESSED with Twitter…” He always has his nose buried in his phone and gives up minute by minute updates on trending topics on Twitter. Obviously, since Mike and Natalie were so enthusiastic about the network, I had to check it out for myself. BAD IDEA. Because now I’m a Tweet-a-holic. Thanks guys.

So you all should jump on the band wagon and start a twitter!

VAMPIRE DIARIES
Posted by: Casey

play Click here for a Vampire Diaries sneak peek!

Calling all Twilight fans!!!!! Make sure to check out this fall new CW Twin Cities show, The Vampire Diaries. Ok, we all know that Vampires are the rage right now. Something about how dark and mysterious they are makes for a good story line. Which is why the CW Twin Cities is keeping up with the demand for blood suckers, oh yes. The new show, The Vampire Diaries is something you CANNOT MISS. I'm telling you I'm a HUGE Twilight fan and it takes a lot for me to say this, but I saw the pilot for TVD and its almost BETTER that Twilight. Here are my reasons why...(remember you can't start hating me until you see the show for yourself!!!)

1. Casting. The cast for this show is new and fresh. The characters have amazing chemistry from the start. I particularly like the changes that they have made from the book series because I think it makes the characters deeper and easier to like. If you are a fan of the series, beware: Elena's a BRUNETTE! Oh snap!

2. Its HOT. Think Gossip Girl meets Supernatural. I mean, the show is about High Schoolers, so you can't escape the Drama... but the characters just seem very likable and real. And all you Edward Cullen gals out there... I think the new boy in school "Stefan" may convert you into a Diaries fan for good. He is one smoking hot dead guy. Wait that came out wrong. But seriously, I'd let him bite me! :)

3. Music. This seasons new One Tree Hill for music! The first episode alone features a handful of my favorite songs right now...
Metric: Help I'm Alive
Band of Horses: No One's Gunna Love You
Kings of Leon: Sex on Fire
Katy Perry: Thinking of You

BE Sure to check out the sneak preview here and watch the show this FALL!!!!!

XOXO
Casey

HARRY (POTTER!) That's my middle name! No really... it is.
Posted by: Casey
Posted on: July 16th, 2009

Hey Guys! Yesterday Jonathan and I got to host the screening of Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince at the Mall of America! Thanks for all of you who came in costume. I think my favorite was Hagrid! That takes some serious planning to pull off. Anyways, I'm a HUGE HP fan. When the first book hit stores in the US my grandma got me the book for an Easter present. Since my mom's side of the family are Potters, my grandma Potter bought the book right away. My great grandma is actually named Lily Potter...YEAH! It makes me feel pretty special. I'm still waiting for my acceptance letter Hogwarts?!?!? You're about ten years late here???

The movie was good! I was pleasantly surprised by some of the changes they made. There were a few extra scenes added and I think it added a bit of suspense for those of us who have been used to the plot following the books pretty closely. All of a sudden I was all like "omg, I don't know whats going to happen in this scene!!!! weird!"

I also think they did a good job with the characters of Lavender Brown and Cormac Mclaggen. Both added a bit of comic relief. Oh I do fancy how many times the word "snog" is used in the movie. It makes me giggle a little inside.

So make sure to go out and buy tickets this week to see HP6!!!!!!!!!! :)

XOXO
Casey

KATE VOEGELE
Posted by: Casey
Posted on: July 6th, 2009

The Taste of Minnesota always seems to improve its line up year after year. This year the line up included one of the CW’s own, Kate Voegele. Most of you may know her as Mia, from the CW’s One Tree Hill where she has the chance to perform her original music on primetime television. One Tree Hill has cast a hook in fans and it seems that Kate is doing just fine reeling them in. After her incredible set, I watched as fans lined up to get a chance to meet Kate. An event sponsored by the CW Twin Cities, Kate did a meet and greet with a handful of lucky contestant winners. After the meet and greet, I had the pleasure of doing a quick interview with Kate for our website about her new album and her role in the upcoming season of One Tree Hill. Make sure to check out the interview and don’t forget to watch Kate Voegele on the next season of One Tree Hill. P.S. After the interview someone totally came up to me and told me I looked a lot like Kate. I was like …. “I LOVE YOU” hahaha. She is sooo cute!

Stop! Before you read this blog, check out my interview with Kate Voegele from One Tree Hill by clicking here!

One of the things Kate says in her interview is that she loves coming to Minnesota because of the great vintage shopping she has done here! I would have to agree with you Kate! The Twin Cities has some incredible vintage and consignment shops that you can’t find anywhere else in the states. I decided to pick out a few of the best a give a little review so that you can have some great vintage finds too! The following are my top five vintage shops in the Twin Cities…

#5 The Buffalo Exchange
This consignment shop on Lyndale Avenue offers a huge selection of the highest quality unique finds. I once found a brand new pair of True Religion jeans here for twenty bucks! Score!

#4 Tatters
This store, located a few blocks away from #5 on Lyndale Avenue, offers a variety of men’s and women’s new and used apparel. This is a good shop to find extremes; if you are searching for a Halloween costume or if your style is super authentic, this is the shop for you. Also, want your very own pair of vintage cowboy boots? This place is stocked!

#3 Lula Vintage Wear
This is a very small and high quality boutique located on Selby Avenue just for the ladies! If you are going for anything from a “Classy Jackie Kennedy” look to a “Material Girl Madonna” look, this is the store for you. Lula gets the award for BEST ACCESSORIES. I have never seen such an amazing selection of vintage jewelry in my life! Also, the handbags and belts are to die for!

#2 Up Six
This shop, located off of Selby and Snelling around the corner from Lula, is your shop to go to for RETRO. This medium sided store sells the best clothes from the 60’s and 70’s. Not only does this shop sell apparel, but you can find really sweet items of house wear as well! Lindsay Lohan made this her vintage shop of choice when she was on location filming “Prairie Home Companion.”

#1 Via’s Vintage
This is my number one place to shop in the Twin Cities. Via’s Vintage located on Hennepin Avenue. If you want to be a princess from the 40’s, here is where you go. The walls of Via’s are lined with the finest gowns of taffeta and tool. Expect nothing but the best from Via’s. If you need to find a one of a kind vintage ball gown, this is your place. Then pair it with vintage jewelry and studded pumps and you are set for your very own simulation of Breakfast at Tiffany’s or Gone with the Wind.
